Battery choice decides how long your system keeps working. In Ghazni, batteries face cold winter nights and hot dusty summers, and most systems cycle deeply every single day.
Lead-acid batteries are cheaper up front but only allow around 50% depth of discharge and typically last two to four years under daily cycling. LiFePO4 lithium batteries allow 80–90% discharge and last eight to twelve years, so the cost per usable kilowatt-hour is far lower.
For cold weather, choose a lithium battery with low-temperature charge protection, and install it inside the building rather than in an unheated outbuilding.
We install lithium in almost every new system in Ghazni, and keep lead-acid only for low-budget systems where the customer accepts shorter life.
